Swinburne University of Technology is conducting research into thoughts and beliefs related to gambling. They want to know why you chose certain gambling activities (e.g., racing, pokies, scratch tickets), and whether your decisions are influenced by ease of access.
Anyone over the age of 18 can take part. Swinburne University are interested in the thoughts and cognitions of everyone exposed to gambling, including social gamblers, non-gamblers, occasional gamblers, regular gamblers, problem gamblers and ex-problem gamblers.
If you wish to take part, you can complete a 30-minute survey about your motivations, thoughts and behaviours relating to gambling. Responses are anonymous.
For more information and to complete the questionnaire online go to www.problemgambling.org.au and follow the links to the survey.
Alternatively contact Anna Thomas on athomas@groupwise.swin.edu.au or on 9214 4697 to have a copy of the survey sent to you.
Swinburne University hope that this research will inform policy makers and industry groups about ways that gambling venues can be changed to help people control their gambling. They also hope that the study will provide information that can be used in the future to help identify the kinds of people who are vulnerable to developing a gambling problem and to assist them to manage their gambling.
