Some links on our site are to files created in proprietary software. When you click on these links, the file will be downloaded to your PC. The larger the file's size, the longer it will take to download.

You will need appropriate software to view files which you have downloaded to your PC. If this software exists on your PC already, it will be automatically launched and you will be able to view the downloaded document immediately. If it is not present on your PC, you will need to have it loaded. You will need the following software to view the following file formats:

Adobe Acrobat

When you click onto links that have the Adobe pdf icon the document will automatically open up using Adobe Reader.
If you do not have Adobe Reader on your PC, you can get a free copy from the Adobe web site by clicking on Get Adobe Reader.

To minimize download time, save the pdf to your computer and reopen it from this location.

Microsoft Word When you click onto links that have the Word icon the document will open up using the word processing package you have loaded on your PC.
Microsoft Excel When you click onto links that have the Excel icon the document will automatically open in Excel. If you do not have Excel loaded, you will not be able to view the file.
Microsoft Powerpoint When you click onto links that have the PowerPoint icon the document will automatically open in PowerPoint. If you do not have PowerPoint loaded, you will not be able to view the file.

Converting a PDF document into text


Option 1
You can mail the URL (Web address) of the PDF file in the body of an e-mail message to pdf2txt@adobe.com (for plain text) or to pdf2html@adobe.com (for HTML). The convertor will mail back the translation of the PDF file. You may submit multiple URLs in a single e-mail. Tip: Cutting and pasting the URL into the mail message will save you some keystrokes.

Option 2
Some PDF documents can be converted easily into text by Adobe's PDF to text conversion tool (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/access_simple_form.html). This tool allows people without the Adobe Acrobat program to view the document.

The tool approximates the logical reading order of the text in an Adobe PDF document and reformats it into a single column of text. This solution provides the following three benefits:
